Tran Minh Tien and Dang Quang Tuan have the (dates), conducted a survey amongst 18 farmers on using animal manure for vegetable production. Three locations were included in the survey, where farmers were interviewed at the field.

Picture 1.Vegetable field at Bo Son hamlet. Everyday, solid pig manure is collected and composted with ash in field. The compost heaps are covered by straw or plastic (Picture 2). In the past, the compost heaps were covered by mud but it is difficult to do it now, due to lack of mud. The composted manure is normally mixed with phosphate fertilizers and basal fertilized to vegetables with the dosage of 7-10 tons/ha, the application method is fertilizing by spotting.
